Dr. Verghese is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania with a double major in Biological Basis of
Behavior and Psychology. She went on to complete the Doctor of Optometry degree at the Pennsylvania
College of Optometry. She completed externships in low vision, specialty contacts and ocular disease
management at the VA hospitals of Newington and West Haven, CT. She provides comprehensive care
to all ages including pediatric population and is a strong advocate for her patients. Dr. Verghese
performs Diabetic eye exams and works with local ophthalmologist to co-manage advanced retinal and
corneal conditions. She has participated in international eye camps providing care in at-risk areas and
continued to participate in community outreach such as vision screenings throughout her career. Her
areas of interest include myopia management and specialty contact lens including fitting keratoconus
patients. She is a certified MiSight lens provider. She is a strong believer of preventive care and actively
advocates for reduction of myopic progression in the pediatric population which has been coined an
epidemic in recent years. Outside of work, Dr. Verghese spends her free time with her husband and two
kids.
